Every death in the middle east was to try and shore up the failing petrodollar, so yes…they died to keep American money worth something.
Ultimately, it will fail, as there is more oil in the world than ever suspected, and more countries than ever produce oil and natural gas. Some of those countries will accept money other than the U.S. dollar for that oil and gas, and what are we going to do? Fight them all? Freedom-bomb the entire world?
The petrodollar will fall, it is inevitable, and then get ready for some serious Weimar Republic shit.
The U.S. exports energy too, it is our leading export, but we don't make consumer products anymore, and that was one of the things that allowed us to hold our own against the debt.
So many people now make so little, they can't afford taxes, and the wealthy have control of the country, so they pay little (as a percentage of income) in taxes, too…where do you get the money to even make the interest-only payments?
Add a severe drop in the value of the dollar, which will increase interest rates, and the government will no longer be able to borrow money. The massive cuts will then cause an enormous loss of the only decent-paying jobs left, and the spiral down the toilet starts picking up steam.
Yes, the soldiers died for the economy, but it won't help, in the long run.
