It does sound a little out of tune with the Bible and like a completely different Jesus from 18:6. He was rude to her at first, calling her an animal, and waiting for her to leave. But I think he helped her solely to make a point concerning the power of faith.

Christianity is so burdened and warped. Its current American expression is as an external authority to place anxiety in, or some relief in it's cosmic justice, or an identity to wear, like some people do with vegetarianism. It's most of the time it's not even the Christianity of your grandparents. It's not local, there's ever diminishing cultural continuity, and the truth is whatever people want to hear.
