Socialism is the government intervening in the economy.
Marxist socialism is forced collectivization. Farms where everyone starves because it's being run by a bureaucrat 1000 miles away and road crews that take 6 months to build 10 ft of road because they can't be fired.
Democratic socialism is buying votes. Bernie Sanders, welfare, Obamacare, etc.
National Socialism is the government preventing the rich from abusing their power. Things like OSHA, the EPA and minimum wage laws, but otherwise it works much like capitalism.
It should be noted that modern capitalism is actually a mix of capitalism, national socialism and democratic socialism.
It should be noted that the most successful economic model of all time is actually National Socialism.
Putting the interests of your country, it's people and it's culture and traditions first over other considerations.

Now you should be able to see where I am going with this. You can sometimes reconcile the two, but ultimately you must eventually come to an impasse where you have to choose between them, as they are opposite in that decision. Eventually you will have to choose between putting your country first or accumulating profits first. Example:
You want to start a new industry, you have several options.
a): You construct the industry on home soil and hire workers from your own country b): You construct the industry on home soil and import foreigners to work the country or c): You construct the industry in China or some other place and hire the dirt cheap people there.
With higher wages, more reasonable regulations, etc. the domestic worker will never be the most viable option. And since a capitalist is out primarily for profits, they will choose option b or c every single time, at the expense of their own country and people. A nationalist will choose option a at personal expense.
