If Patrick Little becomes the republican candidate, it will be quite a struggle for those trying to help him win. Harder than getting Donald Trump into office. Dusting off the old machinery and memes won't be enough. New social engineering machinery and memes will have to be created that are even more powerful and sophisticated than before. And there will be less time to do it. He will have every data analytics and large silicon valley firm working to subvert his message and convince people to vote the other way using every social engineering trick they've discovered in the past decade, and old ones too. No they won't because the CA GOP did not endorse a Senate candidate. The CA GOP has given up because the top half of the party hates Trump for letting Peter Thiel speak at the RNC while the lower half does not trust them for Arnold passing gun control. Everyone is expecting a Fienstien/De Leon runoff with Fienstien winning due to Republican support.
The only reason Little is in this situation is because the CA GOP is at it's lowest point ever, with only 20% of registered voters coming in third behind Democrats (35%) and Independents (45%). Little has no opposition from the right and the left is largely ignoring him for now.
Remember, this is California. California Republicans are cucks like HW Bush who only care about budgets and gays. It's this exact angle Newsom (California's #1 gun control supporter) is banking on in the Gubernatorial race since he is a fiscal conservative against Villiargosa and Eastin (though not Chaing who is just an asian Newsom). By the way Arnold himself came out against all the Republican candidates and openly said he'll be voting Democrat. Same for Reagan's kids who think Trump is a bad influence on their party.
Mexicans aren't 1/10th the problem white liberals are. This will become more obvious when the Gubernational race is just Newsom and Villairigosa, Newsom is a male Hilary while Villar is going to be a brown Jeb. Newsom is favored to win because he ardently supported gay marriage and the fight against Prop 8 (which was the CA GOP's last major policy initiative) while Villar did not. The election will come down to balancing the budget and gay/trans rights which Newsom has an edge on both.
