You don't need both! Espressif has made it really easy to program ESP8266 with Arduino software directly. Moreover, the ESP32 is even more powerful and quite cheap these days, and really, really compact. Also programmable via Arduino, and has way more processing power than Arduino boards, plus does Bluetooth and a lot of other stuff. The whole module is the size of a coin.

Those are shit for a keyboard. You could just have some cheap mini bluetooth keyboard connected to the previously mentioned ESP32, and then you'd only need a battery, which could be some cheap li-po cell connected to VCC and GND via a TP4056 to enable simple USB charging.

All of it should fit on an altoids box with room to spare. They should be cheap enough for you to afford planting them on a crowded place, or drone-dropping them around.
