Because you are dealing with people who have been trained since early childhood in the art of emotional manipulation. The circumstances of their lives have taught them that if they aren't getting what they want, throw a fit, and continue crying, whining, and moaning until the other party finally gives up and gives them what they want in order to shut them up. Modern philosophy is very "end justifies the means" oriented so a philosopher driven to justify a point not served by logic or debate will construct a new methods to replace them, namely violence and censorship.
This is post modernism. We've taken what was meant as a critique of dogma and turned it into a frsmework for academically approving any dogma.
