It's not surprising that people are getting this wrong. Swedish politicians have been calling everything NRM does "unpermitted". They don't mention that permits are not required.
You need to know what happened before all of this. NRM was going to demonstrate in Gothenburg last year, they informed the police and the public of this, and the police came to an agreement with NRM about where and when they were going to march and where to hold their speeches. Then politicians got involved, who ordered the police to deliberate provoke NRM by renegging on their agreement and demanding NRM go somewhere else for their demonstration. NRM then broke all contact with the police, and refused to change their plans. The police made preparations to arrest every single person in the demonstration, by herding them into a closed off street and using riot police and tear gas to subdue the demonstrators. This was leaked to NRM and they changed course mid demonstration, causing clashes between activists (those with nordfront shields) and police. This happened at the same as the leftist counter demonstrators broke through several (3?) police barricades, and started throwing bottle and rocks at both the police and NRM, they also frightened police horses using bangers. Even the mainstream media was torn on whether or not the police had acted in good faith or deliberately sabotaged the demonstration. The media later confirmed the plan to arrest every single demonstrators, and that the cops had been prepared to use excessive violence. This was followed by more demonstrations and more violence from the police. According to the media, tens of millions of swedish crowns had been spent on trying to suppress NRM, all while NRM had every single event on tape and could easily defend their actions in their own media. As public opinion has been shifting (video very fucking related, the shitskins had their identities hidden by the media while (((they))) doxed demonstrators for months), the police have had to lay off NRM (probably until after the election) As of right now, the police will send out a single patrol car to keep an eye out during NRM activity, and they try to stay far away as to not trigger any more clashes. You can still see leftists (antifa) try and provoke NRM, but they don't have the guts to start a fight without the police nearby. What is clear, is that NRM is no longer bargaining with the police. The police may or may not be told when a demonstration will happen, but NRM will do what they've decided to do with or without "permission". The "Good dialogue" means "it's better than when we were fighting in the streets". People are getting very tired of seeing the police show up when NRM is out handing out fliers, but not when migrants rape and plunder.
TLDR: NRM demonstrated legally, the police tried to stop them, lots of violence, public opinion began turning, the police is now more careful.
