Sharing (giving away for free) music harms the music industry, so the logical conclusion would be that freely sharing CP would harm the CP industry. Older content being free makes it harder to earn money producing new content.
The focus should be on tracking down the people creating the content, and punishing those who give them money to make the content afterward. If you can't find the creators then you're not going to find the victims and rescue them.

Here in Ireland the state broadcaster RTE lead the charge in destroying the Catholic church in Ireland by constantly trying to convince people in Ireland that every priest was a kiddie fiddler.
(I remember one of the pedophiles who was jailed for abusing kids in the famous Fox Island, Michigan pedophile ring in the 1970s giving evidence at a US congressional inquiry. He said they always looked for kids who had no religious upbringing. Kids who who had been brought up religiously knew the difference between right and wrong, and were much harder to groom, and more likely to tell someone if they were).
For example, there was an investigation into sexual and physical abuse in Irish educational institutions run by the church. This is known as the "Ryan Report." When the results came out the media were screaming about the "thousands" of cases of abuse uncovered. The report covered 250 institutions over a period of 80 years, from about 1920-2000. Anyway after about 10 years of investigation they found a total of about 380 cases of sexual abuse. Also, most of the abuse wasn't carried out by priests, nuns, or Christian Brothers, but by non-clerical staff hired such as teachers, and caretakers. They kept saying there were thousands of cases though, I don't think anyone actually read the report.
Anyway, compare that to Rotherham in the UK, where Muslims sexually abused kids.
In Rotherham according to the "Jay Report", between 1997 and 2013 Muslims abused about 1,400 young kids.
So let's compare Catholic sexual abuse in Ireland with Muslim sexual abuse in England.
In Ireland (population 4,000,000), there were 380 cases of sexual abuse in 250 Catholic institutions over a period of 80 years between 1920 and 2000.
In Rotherham, in England, (population 250,000 with 125, 000 in the town and 125,000 in the surrounding area) there were 1,400 cases of sexual abuse over a period of 16 years, between 1997 and 2013.
However, 95% of the abuse was carried out by Muslims.
There are 20,000 Muslims in Rotherham.
Let's think about that for a moment.
20,000 Muslims carried out more sexual abuse (1,400 cases) over 16 years, in a small town in England, than 4,000,000 Catholics carried out (380 cases) over 80 years, in the whole country of Ireland!
