You're wrong too. Salvation is like heritage- we don't get to choose our father, we only get to choose whether we are good sons worthy of our inheritance or bad sons that despise our birthright. While works aren't the underlying cause of our salvation (just like having the same appearance as our physical father isn't the cause of our being his son), the works you'll set yourself to are proof of and utilization of our salvation.

But salvation was always impossible.

That's the verse that shows Jesus was an ethnonationalist. Israel during his life time had become a diverse society. The kikes had been gone in Babylon for a long time so when they got back to Israel, a lot of the neighboring tribes had moved in.

This highlights a principle of Christianity that the church has abandoned- serve your own first. when Jesus dais love thy neighbor, he was telling Christians to discriminate, that not all people are the same and that we have a greater obligation to our neighbor than to strangers.

But what does he mean when he says "love"? Is he just talking about a fond emotion?
