France does not have a minimum age of consent, and still does not after this law's passing. Everyone kvetching about how snopes is a jewish conspiracy needs to cool it, because they're getting angry over nothing. This law made it easier for prosecutors to get convictions in the case of a 30 year old man having sex with an 11 year old girl. In particular, the law now states that "coercion" In other words, now that this law has passed, you can't legally take advantage of an 11 year old in France. No judge would find that an 11 year old is prepared to understand and consent to sex.
