So you have cults, priesthoods and churches, but you also need history to your new religion. You have to create a new creation story. The ancient alien theory is just that a new historical dialegtic for this new religion. History gives legimicy.

So to build a new religion you have religios nominations, history, prophets and priesthood. All that is lacking is true believers. So they stage UFO encounters for people to see. They maybe even lie and make up stories, and you wouldnt know any better.

There even is proof that UFO phenomenum was man made. UFO sightings were increasing and decreasing statistically in certain weekdays. Also UFO sightings hardly crossed state lines. Why would aliens from outer space care or know about our state laws and borders, or care about our calender.
