CNN Just Sued The Government To Get The Names And Addresses Of Manafort Jurors
In a motion filed in federal court on Thursday, CNN and several other media outlets requested that the court release the names and home addresses of all jurors in the Paul Manafort fraud case. Jurors haven not yet rendered a verdict on any of the 18 charges against Manafort, who briefly served as President Donald Trump’s campaign manager in 2016.
The motion — filed on behalf of CNN, Washington Post, BuzzFeed, POLITICO, New York Times, NBC Universal, and the Associated Press — asks the court to provide to the media organizations the full names and home addresses of the men and women who were summoned and selected by the federal government to serve as jurors in Manafort’s fraud case. The media request for the names and home addresses of jurors comes a day after the jury began deliberating about the verdicts on 18 fraud and conspiracy counts against Manafort. The charges, which are unrelated to Manafort’s work for the Trump campaign in 2016, were brought by the federal Office of Special Counsel, which is headed by former FBI director Robert Mueller. Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to investigate allegations that the Trump campaign committed treason by illegally conspiring with Russian government officials to steal the presidential election from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

You know, I agree with you, but this case is an important juncture for the Mueller team. I thought the Enron scandal was bad, but the prosecution see: Mueller's team were equally as scurrilous and conducted themselves in an inappropriate manner, including abusing their power to hide exculpatory evidence from the defense, intentionally misleading the jury, and convincing some defendants they were guilty of crimes that didn't exist.
It doesn't matter how much of a piece of trash Paul Manafort is; if he didn't commit a crime, or if the prosecution is not conducting themselves in a professional manner and relying on unscrupulous methods to get their Pyrrhic victory, then Manafort will either be absolved of guilt or will overturn the ruling on appeal.
The fact alone that media outlets are attempting to have the names of the jurors released to the public in such an extremely high-profile case, where a judge so ordered their anonymity should speak quite significantly to the state of things. Given the fact that the judge spoke rather openly that there have been threats made against him, and that he has been granted a protective detail, there is absolutely no way the media cabal will ever be granted their motion. All of this combined practically GUARANTEES that Manafort will have the right to appeal, so long as his judge isn't bought and paid for; could very well be another very high-profile case going up to the highest levels.
It could all make Mueller look extremely bad, just like their handling of the Enron scandal and all the overturned convictions that nobody talks about.
