It seems like the nu-internet's inability is slowly starting to catch up with itself. Everyone is starting to ask for shekels and people aren't going to keep forking over $5 a month to each and every website they visit for content they can easily live without. I think we'll eventually see a bigger split amongst users who have more money than sense and for over $500 a month to 100 different subscriptions and those who just stick to cheaper alternatives. Might see a resurgence in the use of messengers and boards where content is created by the users themselves and the costs of serving those users are kept low.

I kept thinking "Where are all the pay-to-read newspapers we had 20 years ago" and why are we slowly going back to it and realized something:
If someone launched a "pay-to-read" Newspaper right now, it would be suicide. Why read your shit, when there's 20 guys publishing the same story (that they got from the same source) for free but with ads that can be easily blocked?
So every News-site being launched needs to be free to survive. BUT: the more of these that get launched, the less money there's for each, they more every news site struggle to keep afloat. It essentially becomes a battle of popularity: the less popular one's end up dying off and if they publish something that angers their reader-base, they're done for.

Now here's the funny bit where the yids shot themselves in the foot: in recent years, when every right-wing ideology was purged from the MSM, this created a vacuum, a market, a need to have the views expressed.
This precipitated HUNDREDS of people to launch their right-wing, alternative plataforms.
Not just right-wing ideas either: some extreme-left did this too, as did other views and opinions that weren't popular (like videogame critics complaining about casual shit games for instance).
We've had "Alternative Media" for years. Heck, I had a couple of hipster friends making Zines 20 years ago.
But in recent years, Alternative Media massively exploded, stole away the public attention span and ended up surviving because most of them are 2-3 guys with a pirated Microsoft Word publishing their opinions to earn some pocket money in their free time.
The large, monolithic corporations that employee thousands of people found themselves unable to support it all because these smaller alternatives could effectively compete with their multi-million-dollar media machine.

I predict that in time, we'll go back to a "Pay-to-Read" scheme, or subscriptions systems will congeal in a "Subscrive to this packet of services that includes News+Facebook+Videohosting+Cloud Service" with diferent companies offering diferent News site as part of their packets.
