Basic info for anons not following this too closely:
Before this pathetic regime change attempt began in 2011, Syria signed a contract for the S-300 in 2009-2010. SAA troops received training in Russia. Payment was sent and everything was going smoothly at the time. Unfortunately, Russia scrapped the contract in 2013 due to Israel politicians crying in pain about the holohoax and the payment was re-transferred to Syria. There's been numerous reports/statements since then about Russia providing the S-300 but nothing concrete. Personally, I'm going to wait until I see concrete evidence before celebrating.
There's a port in the city of Tartus where Russia currently has a S-300VM deployed to protect their naval base. Supposedly, they'll just transfer that one to the Syrian Arab Air Defense Forces (SyAADF) and transfer another system to Tartus.
This is where it gets a bit more complicated. They could have "advisors" operating it along with Syrians. No one knows for sure what they're planning to do.
