It would be a red herring to speculate that he was dead. Since a more plausible theory is that Assange is being coerced and co-opted for his freedom seems more likely but is still speculation. I would agree however that his situation and these patterns of behavior make him less reliable. That's why he may have appointed a new editor in chief.

This he now has failed to do since October 2016. As such, he must be considered compromised, likely dead as a result of that raid. Plastic surgery and an actor, clone, or some other form of misdirection is likely (I remember on pol at the time some user mentioned they expected to see Assange make a public appearence a few months after the incident as this would be about how long the scars would take to settle down and him to look more like "Assange" - that came true and was a major red-pill for people around me when I told them to look out for it and predicted his appearing on the balcony).
