It's mostly just the media. You're right, the normies are going crazier, but it's just because they're being wound up by the media. These last 2 years have been the most hardcore, crazy-retarded blitz of media politicization i've ever seen. You have to remember, the average normie doesn't actually investigate topics and discuss things, the only exposure to news and information they get is through corporate media outlets and their faceberg feed. And in the last 2 years, (((they))) have gone completely over the cliff, as literally everything in the mainstream media talking head sphere is "THE OTHER SIDE IS COMING TO GET YOU!!1!!1!!" tier shit.
Every liberal talking head is shrieking about how "the nazis are coming!" while every FOX and Jonesenstein types are screeching "the left is coming for you!" at the same time. Basically, it's the establishment playing D&C by making identity politics the big thing, and then winding everybody up to go crazy on each other. The left is just more susceptible because more of the media is aimed at them, and they are just more emotional, illogical and unhinged to begin with.
And it's not just the news, but literally almost every single fucking TV show, video game, and movie is utterly saturated with unnecessary political bullshit. Look at how brutally politically incorrect something like Game of Thrones was during its first few seasons, and now it's become wall to wall SJW nonsense.

It's the media they consume. It's essentially making them more radical on both sides. The whole purpose of the right choice, left choice crap is to make people fight each other and not pay attention to (((the main problem))). Seen recently: chick I used to know as a quiet bookworm kind of girl that you would never have imagined had any interest in politics starts #listenandbelieving Christina Ford over Kavanaugh. At least some of her "friends" were being more reasonable and telling her to not jump to conclusions.
It's just so surreal seeing people you used to laugh with suddenly turn into blindly raging shells of their former selves with absolutely no indication that they've been happy for even one minute in the last 3 to 5 years. Simply mind-blowing.
