As someone living in Serbia (but my ancestors being from Montenegro), I have never racially identified with Slavs, but rather with Dinarics (as it's my dominant phenotype). They are among tallest people in the world, have much higher IQ and creativity than most surrounding populations, are autochthonous Europeans and very closely resemble the Cro Magnons. They are also well famed warriors, poets, scientists, statesmen etc. Nordics are just our more beautiful cousins. For Americans/people who do not understand: Slavs do not consider themselves as one ethnicity group. Those are various ethnicities that are very close to each other, the languages are similar one can fairly understand a lot of "foreign languages". That is not to say all slavs are the same. Each Slavic nation has a distinct culture, language, traditions, etc. Slavs are more close to each other than to other European nations(German, Italian and so on). That's obvious.
Indeed most Slavs I know do not consider themselves "white" because that's just overarching term for all Europeans that might/might not be in Europe (America and so on). So the term "white" makes more sense in the American context, not in European. I prefer to use "European" for Europeans.
