What i can confirm, however, is that it is most definitely NOT the beast(or devil, call it as you like). In christian mysticism, baphomet is a very controversial figure. Some claim that it is a symbol of Mastema tempting men into evil to test their faith, as he had done with Job, but some claim that it is a form of the Holy Spirit, which leads in some way to spiritual emancipation from the earthly affairs.
