Also, porn does not necessarily negatively effect ones life. Though extreme over use of porn can, which is what many of these studies look at, moderate use to get off every once in a while doesn't have any evidence of being harmful. Also, looking at the studies claiming porn can cause violent behavior, I dont see much convincing. Sure, there may be a small correlation between porn and violence, however, correlation is not causation, and the studies dont seem to effectively rule out other causes, and jump to the conculsion that porn is causing the violence. Usually, youd want to look at the populations of each group for other factors that could cause the apparent correlation, however, proving (I mean to a very likely extent, not for 100% certain) causation is very difficult with just statistics, as the mechanism of action is needed to show that one thing causes another. Also, lots of stuff about how porn changes the brain, but everything does, the brain constantly makes new memories, pathways, and never is stable. Im not saying some changes are not bad, Im saying that the studies dont identify to my satisfaction why the changes porn makes are unique or harmful compared to changes from other activities. One question though, do you think that masturbation is okay, cause there is some pretty good evidence masturbation may reduce the risk of prostate cancer (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15069045). Also, masturbation is sometimes instinctive even in childhood (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2994165/). My main issue with most of these studies is they fail to show that porn is a negative influence in standard, non extreme, cases.
