I actually went to a decent high school with predominately male teachers in the classes I chose (STEM) but my physics teacher in particular had a Masters in his field but for some reason I was blessed to have him as my teacher in senior year.
We did one experiment where, over a long distance, light passing through a hole or around an object will eventually appear spheroid. You can try this yourself. Cut squares of varying sizes on a piece of paper and tape it to your window that currently has the most sunlight (I believe this works better with sunlight). Look at the opposite ground or floor where the light would land once passed through the hole and it will appear as a spheroid and not a square.
