Anyone wanna help translate this natsoc book?

A Strange State by Wilfried von Josch

Wilfried von Josch was a NatSoc, a philosopher, and a figure of the Volkisch movement. In 1940, with Ludendorffs Verlag (Ludendorff's Publishing House), this short book was published. Essentially, as the title suggests, it's about the role of Plato in Volkisch contemplation/thought. In case you didn't already get it, that's "Volkisch" as in the Volkisch movement, not in the colloquial sense. So, basically, the book is an important piece of work for anyone wanting to know more about German history and thought at the time.

I'm two pages in so far, which covers the intro and leaves us with 30 more pages to translate. It's something a number of goys could smash out in a week, I suppose.

Note: as it is a 1940s German philosophy text, it does involve a bit of technical language and some pretty abstract terms that require probably a C2 in German to even begin understanding properly. Therefore, machine translation isn't gonna cut it. In fact, you're gonna butcher it that way.

(No links to the project right here but the moment I get some interest I'll hook you guys up to paste bin or something and we can get started.)

In modern uni system the thoughts of antiquity do not matter to the postmodernist braindead cretins.

And? This doesn't have anything to do with them. This is for us and our interests. Your post is totally irrelevant and 100% unnecessary.

I am foreseeing a greater need for translation services. This stuff takes a lot of time tho, and a 700 page book is a doozy to work on. I am working on that Wirth book, but this is probably more worth the read tbh. Good luck. I want to translate all the NatSoc Spanish materials I can get my hands on as well. Counter-Currents also regularly does reviews on French and German books, some of which I'd like to do as well. Le Déclin, Les Indoeuropéens, and a few others would be perfect.

It absolutely is, from the appeals of authority to the assembly lines of young minds it is over. All you're doing is preaching to the choir, which will accomplish nothing. You refuse to mend the broken youths.

Reported for TORpedo spam.

That is one hell of a task. Massive respect if you can finish it.

File all the false reports you want, you know I'm right. Why not go out and do something?

Low effort trolling.

OP, contact JR's Rare Books and Commentary, they've translated rare Natsoc era books from their original German into English.

Dropping first page

Truly great creative men, who give the people new, pioneering knowledge, are never entirely detached from spiritual and historical development, but will always, in a way, rest upon the everlasting achievements of human endeavour and intellect. The deeper your understanding of the philosophical interrelations, the more you'll perceive yourself as a link in a chain of illuminated spirits, in whose sequence you'll have an undying part in the geistesschatze of the people. Thus, the greatest men of their people stand silently and lonely above their mostly lackadaisical surroundings, and across the centuries pass to each other the deepest insights of humanity. [The professors as “masters of their field” however, see their main task as diligently researching to discover the previous findings upon which the creators of new works have built, in order to minimize the credit of these creators on the basis of the dependencies they find.][In this research, it did not escape their notice that even Ms Dr. Ludendorff had not built her philosophy out of thin air, but rather had based her revolutionary insights on individual results of the philosophers Plato, Kant, and Schopenhauer.][From this they draw the conclusion, Ms Doctor Ludendorff would tacitly recognize the complete works of these philosophers with all their mistakes, time-related contemplations, yes, even opposing viewpoints.][Especially in the references of the philosopher on single correct findings of Plato, she wants to spot a far-reaching accordance of German God-cognition with Platonic thinking, even the purely occult contexts of Plato, that are not always recognizable to the laymen, are seemingly approved by Ms Dr. Ludendorff][These attempts of an occultist blurring of clearly drawn lines are to be strongly rejected.]

1st page footnotes:

In 1925, Erich Ludendorff founded the Tannenberg League, an umbrella organization. It had approximately 100,000 members. Part of the umbrella organization was the German Volk Society, founded in 1930. Its purpose was to spread Mathilde’s allegedly science-based religious views known as Gotterkenntnis. Because it shared many things in common with National Socialist ideology and worldview, it was banned in 1933. After a new rapprochement between Hitler and Ludendorff in 1937, the latter founded the Society for German God-knowledge. (Poewe, K. (2004). New Religions and the Nazis, p. 144.)
(Ludendorff, M. (1900). The Triumph of the Immortal-will. Selbstverlag.)
(Ludendorff, M. (1900). The Triumph of the Immortal-will. Selbstverlag.) Mathilde’s God-cognition built upon the realizations of Kant by proving that, apart from his capacity of thought and judgement, man attains his cognition by his divinatory "self". This “self” is intuitively capable of experiencing and recognizing God, the entity of all phenomena.
Plato mentioned the "entitative vision" (theoria) of the soul. (Davey, N. (2013). Art and theoria. In Thinking Through Art (pp. 36-55). Routledge.
Ms Dr. Ludendorff was a prominent figure in the Völkisch movement and the wife of Erich Ludendorff, a top WW1 military general. (Kolb, A. (2016). Wigman's Witches: Reformism, Orientalism, Nazism. Dance Research Journal, 48(2), pp. 26-43.) Erich, however, died in 1937, three years before A Strange State (this book) was published, which is why Mathilde is addressed as “Ms”. (Honig, J.W., 2012. The Idea of Total War: From Clausewitz to Ludendorff. In The Pacific War as Total War: Proceedings of the 2011 International Forum on War History, pp. 29-41.)
Geistesschatze has no English equivalent; however, the closest translation is, wealth of the spirit.

Ready when you are, Anons.

Ladies…how about uploading those books so that we can get to work?

Countenance or mental composure should do the trick.

If you don't have the "Ä,Ö,Ü" keys, please use "AE OE, UE" instead, which is the correct German term.

I ran an analysis of translated lit including Schiller, Goethe, etc. After examining terms, wealth of the spirit is most accurate and is the translation chosen by other translators.

This hasn't been edited yet. This is the draft you're looking at.

The link for the translation is here if you want to get to work.

good luck fellas

Danke!

Fraktur takes a bit getting used to.

So are you helping or just having a look? I assume not given your prodigious undertaking at the moment.

bump

Mind taking a pic of one page for people to translate ?

The pdf and the current translated pages have already been uploaded here, dumbass.

People here should (had better) be used to it. If cursive is cracker runes, Fraktur is ultra-runes. No minority will ever put the time in to learn. That's why I write all of my personal letters in Kurrentschrift.

Looks fun, when taking the time and translating them.

Ask Professor MacDonald

theoccidentalobserver.net/

He has translators in his Rolodex.

OP here. Tings are getting more exciting. University of Austria has short bio on him and the university of Berlin has an ultra rare philo paper of his that they're putting into PDF for me! What's more, it appears Josch was directly connected to Hitler!

Stay tuned.

Are you implying you will disseminate the text here (even if in German)?

Here's a library of rare/banned NS books:

If only this was translated to English (including publisher information etc.); published in 1942. I would make an identical edition with the English text.

I begun working on that as well and started a pastebin, you can find it in the Wirth thread. I've only just started, but the intro and forewords are done. I didn't know anyone else was working on it, how far in are you?

Skimmed through most of it. It's an obituary/commemorative booklet for Reinhard Heydrich after he was killed by an English bomb. It talks about his extraordinary effort and dedication to the cause and his work as head of the German secret service. It finishes with a personal note from the Fuehrer himself as he posthumously awards him the "Highest level of the German Award". Not worth translating in my humble opinion, it only concerns one man and his superhuman skills and dedication. I will deny you your request but another user might not.

Oh, hello there. I began working on Das Heilige Jahr, which begins around page 200 because I figured there was someone else interested in it and I was worried about redundancy. I'll check the other thread about it.

Bump.
