What is the left’s philosophical and/or scientific justification for the belief that gender exists on a spectrum?
I don’t get the argument that a man can go his entire life having never lived as a woman, but decide one day he feels like a woman so now we all have to accept him as such. What’s does it feel like to be a woman?

Philosophy user here. The modern tranny phenomenon was born from the post-modernist thought boom. The justification is based on the importance and essential nature of subjectivism and relativism in the leftist worldview. The thinking goes like this: everything is relative. Therefore, man and woman is relative. Therefore, it's a spectrum. Therefore, where one lies on the spectrum is up to them to decide. With that as the standard for acceptable identify, someone can basically identify as anything and claim that the identity is valid because only the individual knows. That's it in a nutshell.
And if gender is subjective, as they claim, it can never be scientifically valid because science can only test objective things. In fact, gender is less scientific than science fiction because most science fiction is based on real science. Gender is based on poor reasoning and solipsism. Nothing more.
The death blow argument done easily: gender is subjective means gender is relative. But the claim is absolute and is therefore a contradiction. Thus it is self refuting. Reductio ad absurdum. Gender cannot be objective because it is not objective by definition. Therefore it doesn't exist.
Never expect real justification from leftists. Everything they say is insanely wrong.

These are two different questions. The left's current consensus position is a compromise between two views that are basically incompatible: that sex and gender are socially constructed, and that transgender people have an intersex condition that primarily affects the brain. The first view is obviously dumb. The second view is somewhat plausible, though difficult to verify and even if true doesn't carry the implications they think it does. The combination of the two views is incoherent.
There is none. Whatever they will give you will be word vomit couched in esoterica and psychobabble. The only reason this is being pushed so heavily nowadays is because they figured out it's one of the easiest of many ways to destroy white masculinity and normal straight sexuality. It's sad considering where we are right now but they used anime and vidya in a big way to fetishize, the normalize "traps" and once that was accomplished, it wasn't hard to make the jump to full dick chopping and mutilations.
