It's not supposed to convince the left. The idea is to de-weaponize the term so that they can't use it against us any more. Think about what happened to the words 'racist' and 'bigot'. They've lost a lot of their power because they were overused. Also, using the phrase in an argument forces the left into a defensive position at which point, to an observer, they are "defending a conspiracy theory". They already laid the groundwork for us by attaching negative connotations to the term in the public consciousness. All we have to do is play it against them.
