The good news is the government will push gun owners from purchasing firearms from store where the purchase can be tracked and taxed to the black market or homemade weapons. Such laws will only increase the carnage and the body count, judging by a comparison of attacks by firearm with attacks by vehicle.
Motor vehicle attacks kill much larger numbers of targeted people than gun attacks kill.
Just look at the terror attack during 2016 in Nice, France by a Muslim driving a truck - it killed 86 people and injured 458. Those numbers are much larger than the numbers of victims in 99% of attacks with firearms.
The death toll from NZ - 50 corpses - is paltry by comparison.
