Catholicism was OUR religion. The saints replaced the pantheon of Gods. There's a myth that "sex before marriage was firbidden," it was not so long as you gave your word you were marring the girl, in accordance with traditional Western monogamy. Where did it go so wrong?
1. Reformation– yes, the Church was corrupt, the sale of indulgences was wrong, and yes, none of this was in the gospels. THAT WAS THE FUCKING POINT. IT was 1,200+ years of OUR OWN tradition built up over the year, and it worked for us. LUther was such a cunt he was telling his followers to help the Ottomans and even fight on their side and help them into Italy, until he relented once he realized how fucked he would be
2. Loss of Constantinople- 1453- Few people even talk about this. In fact, you can talk to a lot of people with even advanced degrees in European History and you ask them about this and they look at you blankly. THIS WAS WHERE all the Greek and Roman knowledge was kept, that (maybe 1.10th of) made its way to the West, which started what is known as "The Rennisance, the rediscovery of Greek and Roman learning." Even so, it's often said that the West "never dealt with the trauma of losing Constantinople and the Byzantine Empire." More than half of "our" domain, more than half of Christendon, just fucking lost. And the cunts try to guilt trip US for taking the stone-age tribs of the US and building it with our own hands into an amazing country.
3. The encounters with negros and natives. If you read Latin and you read the notes of the time, it has fuck all to do with "saving the souls" of the nigger and native savage beasts. The fear was "what if the mohamedeans get to them first, ad turn them into essentially 16th century suicide bombers?" No one know how many of them there were…what if Islam got to them first? THAT is the reason the pope granted the order to make them Christian, despite the fact he still privately considered them beasts.
4. Printing Press- So now you have normal people able to read the bible. How many "normal" people who are slighly insane are going to randomly decide that THEY are the real prophets, and come up wiht lunatic versions of Christianity (look at the Hugebonts and the English Churches, the Iconoclasts in Russia, Calvin and their shit, disgusting, plain churches (how many ever stopped to go on a tour of a Calvinist Church, or even gone to sit in Old North Church in Boston? It's a nothing, it's ugly, just plain wood.
And some will say "look how much Pagan culture was destroyed, how much blood was spilled…" Read Ceaser's "Commentaries on the Gallic Wars" and tell me that we weren't at one another's throats well before Rome and Christianty? Christianty just gave us an organizing principle for our own art and own architecture, which we worked into the places of worship over the thousands of years. No one read the "gospel" until the mid-17th century, and when they did, immediately wars began and they began fucking things up.
