Then their ISIS pets broke free of their masters, because at the top, ISIS was an Israeli project. It could be due to compartmentalization why this Obama official doesn't see the big picture, or as I said above, things didn't go as originally planned.
ISIL never had any masters. They are the offshoot of Zarqawi's group who Americans thought they defeated after Bush's so-called "surge".
But ISIL became the most potent and "pure" force as every Western-backed rebel defected to them. That was the wakeup call to stop weakening Assad through FSA proxies. Because America and Israel would not be the beneficiary.
