I have no idea why Whites beat themselves up about slavery. Slavery has been a part of every culture on planet Earth. Whites are the ONLY ones that stopped it using their military power. We are the only people who have freed slaves. We don;t owe anyone anything.
Next time a Black says anything to you about slavery tell him Whites are the only people who stopped slavery.
