Antifa has never been responsible for a single death. White Nationalism has been responsible for many. Antifa gets designated a terrorist organization, than so do all prominent white nationalist groups. Also, white nationalist groups are actual organizations, often with memberships and members lists. Antifa does not. This means if they see that Alex Fields or Jacob Goodwin were somehow associated with your group, suddenly everyone in the group gets some of the blame for their crimes.
Because of antifa's informal structure, the only way to identify someone as antifa would be if they wore or had some kind of antifa symbol on them, like the antifa insignia, or the anarcho-syndicalist flag. If you made black masks a designated symbol of antifa, then they could just start wearing Guy Fawkes masks or something and suddenly by legal definitions, they're not antifa.
