Former catholic here, I won't bother you with my religious history, but I understand your point of view. I came to the conclusion that "help yourself and He will help you", meaning that we are in a drastic position, and it is right to fight for our brothers and to avoid that our culture gets destroyed and their religion imposed upon christians. He will help us in the struggle if we start it, without turning it into an imperialistic fight, but keeping its purpose to be our folk's (and religion) survival.
He sent us these times as the test of our faith, and the ultimate act of faith is not bowing to them (it's easy and comfortable) but to fight them and, if necessary, to be a martyr. We greco-roman pagans have developed a concept might help you make up your mind. It is something I call the “tripartite nature of the Christian God”, which is basically an historical analysis of the proto-jewish canaanite religion in order to find the essential conceptual elements of the Christian YHWH.
