Sane people don't want schools full of cops because it leads to closed campuses, a situation which immediately leads to uniforms and transparent bag requirements if not also schools being extremely bitchy about where students get approved pencils and notebooks (this place is usually the school's contracted supplier, who charges insane rates). The same shit happens in Mexico and I'm legit pissed it's happening up here. Mexico has gun control too, which also blows and didn't stop their attempted school shooting a year ago.

Democrats have wanted it for a while since they started it as a means to deal with gang violence inside urban schools. Ditto for school checkpoints, which most larger cities already have.
