There's some irony in people criticizing Christianity from a purely Judaeo-Christian standpoint. Most gods of most religions were not omnipotent, stop acting like omnipotence is a requirement for godhood.
There's also the fact that in Christianity "good" is defined effectively as "obeying God's will" and "evil" as "disobeying God's will", so God cannot be evil because he cannot defy his own will. The understanding of morality not as some personal code, but as divine law is Theology 101, come on now.
