The USA is pushing its international provocations and aggression to the limit, and this is insanely dangerous. Facing the defeat of its terrorist proxy forces in Syria and a budding insurgency against its "Rojava" military occupation of North East Syria, US-NATO has planned and is itching to execute a full-scale bombing campaign and invasion. US-NATO war propaganda has become totally deranged, and no longer seeks to create even temporarily "credible" pretexts– the Skripals are still alive (both of them), and the latest "bombing" in Douma was not even the typical false-flag attack, it simply did not happen at all. However, Syria is of immense strategic importance to the US-NATO project of enslaving the planet, and Russia, Iran, and China all know this. The military capabilities of these countries are extremely advanced, and actually surpass those of US-NATO in some key areas such as hypersonic missiles. The new generation of hypersonic missiles render literally all of US-NATO's military bases and ships worthless. An open confrontation with Russia and China would result in the rapid destruction of their Navy fleets, and all of their bases in the MENA region (and elsewhere). The only other recourse US-NATO has is nuclear war, which is evidently viewed as a real and desireable option by many top people in Washington, but even this wouldn't enable a full-scale invasion for an empire without a navy, it would just destroy the planet. None of this is "Trump policy" or "Clinton policy," it is just part of the plan that US-NATO have worked on and carried out for decades. Regardless what happens in this current standoff, we are headed to a new stage in the imperialist war for global domination, and this corresponds to domestic policy: if you think it is legal to be a socialist or a communist in the West, you are going to be proven very, very wrong soon enough, be it a week, a year, or five years from now.

Since the CIA-Saudi 9/11 attacks, the USA and other imperialist countries have bathed their populace in ever-growing waves of fascist repression, with the top aim of the total elimination of anti-imperialist or "anti-war" dissent within these countries. Objectively, "anti-war" sentiment and organization in the USA is even worse-off today than it was in the early post-9/11 years. The fascist assault on anti-imperialists, already intense enough under Bush and Obama, is now also intensifying to match the intensification of the imperialist assault abroad. Anti-imperialist organizers aren't just starting from 0 right now, they are starting from the negative numbers. Existing socialist or "anti-war" organizations are either completely FBI/CIA-controlled honeypots (such as Code Pink or the Democrat Cops of America), or broken, heavily-infiltrated, and amateurish parties (such as PSL). Anyone who becomes heavily involved in either kind of organization will find themsleves ensnared by law enforcement one way or another, and will thus be rendered useless to anti-imperialism. Many socialists engage in borderline disgraceful practices such as posting about politics on Facebook, which will also lead to their arrest or demise. Not only is law enforcement working against you, but your own past actions are as well. Delete your posts and/or accounts while you still can, and you will hopefully become a lower priority or evade the eyes of local law enforcement. Consider your position to be similar to that of German communists in the WWI era, but in some ways far worse– since your task is to build an anti-imperialist movement from almost nothing, and modern surveillance is beyond anything the old-time fascists ever dreamed of. There's no way around the fact that socialists in most imperialist countries are tasked with building an "anti-war"/anti-imperialist movement from scratch (convincing as many people as possible to leave the honeypot orgs), and have totally failed their comrades in Syria. If you can, you should put up posters, leaflets, etc. around places with heavy foot traffic denouncing the present imperialist aggression. Stop posting putrid Posadas memes and wishing for the "excitement" of a war news cycle. But that won't make much of a difference if you don't have an organization. Just as the international situation is now extremely volatile and uncertain, so too is the domestic situation for Westerners. There could be a continual gradual buildup, or a sudden wave of fascist repression.
Zig Forums and leftypol
Zig Forums is not a suitable place for socialists. Imageboards are not suitable places for socialists, though they have some desirable characteristics, such as anonymity and deletion of post history (if the FBI isn't straight-up mirroring Zig Forums's servers). Generally speaking, the entire Western internet is not suitable for socialists, or won't be very soon (see the shadowbanning of socialists all over social media, the delisting of socialist sites from Google results, etc). Zig Forums was a very bad and naive idea, and though it had some positive outcomes, I'm skeptical that they outweigh the negative outcomes. A number of imperialist propaganda campaigns were amplified by posters here, and overall the point of imageboards is to get people addicted and waste their time. While I was able to kick out some of our worst posters, we also lost some mods, and we need more mods. But recruiting mods gets more difficult each time. I don't have time to moderate Zig Forums all day, and it's a very inefficient use of socialist efforts to moderate or even simply post here. And I worry that myself and the other mods could get knocks on our doors some time down the line. I'm not sure what to do about the board right now.

There is no real distinction between real life and social media at this point. While there must of course be a leftist presence on the ground, the internet has replaced the mainstream media in many ways, and there is no way leftist should just surrender it to the alt-right. There is no reason why a YouTube video with over 10k clicks is supposed to have less effect on the discourse than a dozen Trots distributing newspapers on a campus. Imageboards have there role in this battle, take Zig Forums for example: The amount of seriously committed Zig Forums Nazis is probably not that high, but there is no denial that many memes, talking points and tactics the right uses have originated on Zig Forums and have almost entered the mainstream. As such, they even had an influence in the election so that Hillary had to mention fucking Zig Forums in a speech.

The internet is not some kind of neutral thing, it was created by the USA as a way to wage war and spy on people. Today, foreign internets and soc media might be usable by communists, but posting on most Western websites, especially soc media, is basically informing on yourself. You can still eat a lot of shit, like salads. A lot of calories are often just greasy stuff on most foods, staple food like rice and pasta, or unnecessary amounts of sugar. To cut down on those is easy, just stop eating staple food that goes with most meals.

The idea that the US military designed the internet for this express purpose only to both use it for their own communications and rely on third parties to do their actual spying (and their own commercial spying) doesn't really hold up that well to me. There's also the matter of apparent existing legal limits on what they can do, which are gradually removed to give them more room.
