It won't happen by simply putting an AI in charge. The people have to free themselves. Maybe with the help of some government, but this help can only consist of putting the people in the right position. If they don't do it themselves they will still be alienated.

I'm convinced they'll have to use computational technology to get there though. The way to avoid either getting sucked into authoritarian socialism or degenerating into capitalism is to monitor the economy yourself, and then spontaneously organize to defend ones interests. This is only possible through the free availability of reliable information, plus the capacity to process it and immediately cooperate with people of shared interests. You need computers for that.

I'm talking constant revolution. All counterrevolutionary activity is overthrown through the spontaneous boycotting by other economic agents. We'd be in a perpetual general strike against it.

This is done by arming the population with technology and letting them fight their battles for themselves.

No, technology should be subservient to humans. We should work to expand our own intelligence, understanding, and empathy rather than strive to be ruled by machines.

Ideally an AI overlord would function more like a god than a middle manager (i.e. subtly influence outcomes rather than dictating them for to carry them far out.) A benevolent machine god would be able to resist revisionist decay far better than any human.

I prefer to have no god, except perhaps as a unification of human thought.

AI isn’t an intellectual pursuit it’s a threat. Creating AI would be like genticly engineering a new human spieces that’s supper intelligent, and supper strong. Both scenarios would lead to conflict and be bad for us.
