Was the federation a socialist society? Is gene rodenbary really a communist?

Yes and yes.

Pretend to be a female and/or file a complaint to the appropriate authorities on this matter.

jep, he clearly is and he's also quite open about it. Surely /ourguy/

He was, some idiots think that "oh he isnt a libtard so he couldnt be a commie!" But the guy said Maoist china was the dream so eh.

Please also go visit /strek/, it's a cool board but it's overtaken by Zig Forumsyps and lolberts who are eternally triggered by the leftist undertones on the franchise. Here they argue that the Ferengi aren't AnCap because they have commercial regulations: >>>/strek/22072

Reminder that the Ferengi go socdem in the end.
Also Strek is good, it is nowhere near as polypy as a lot of boarda. Just call them out on their shit.

In that very thread someone argued that because replicators make commodity production useless since goods wouldn't attain any value (because human labor input is obsolete), so that Ferengi poster completely lost his shit and posted a wall of text with a dozen articles from Mises.org

that's fapfic material, user. i'd write it myself if the FF community weren't brimming with grammar elitists.

and in the specific Ferengi case socdem is really the best we could hope for

I hate DS9 for making me like a character that's a literal AnCap.

Why the fuck would I want to hang out with a bunch of retarded Zig Forumscuc

Are the vulcans supposed to be zionists or something? I've always disliked them for their oddly reactionary beliefs.

What the fug

Bajorans are Zionists.
There is literally an episode in DS9 where Kira goes The Man in the Glass Booth on a Cardassian.

Vulcans are just space elves.

Obious polyp but the Bajorans are meant to be the Polish/Lithuanians and the Cardassian union is the USSR.
Also DS9 was really quite topical, it tries to touch on the 1990s race relations in areas like LA and then on the nature of the relation between the church and the state. I mean there is legit a 'creationism vs evolution' episode.

I'm not from Zig Forums you stupid faggot. The writers themselves have stated that the Bajorian-Cardassion issue is literally based on Nazi Germany and the Jews, the entire Cardassian architecture is based on fascist/Nazi design, Gul Dukat has many traits shared with narcisstic Nazi gouverneurs like Arthur Seyß-Inquart. If you don't recognize the parallels between Israel and the Bajorans that are hammered down constantly I can't help you. That episode I was talking about was literally their own inteprrstion of Man in the Glass Booth which was also admitted by the writers.

Then don't parrot their 'muh gorillians' line then.
Well Israel-Palestine was actually touched on but not between the Bajorans and Cardies but between the Bajorans themselves and and that one where the Kai 'dies'.
But how the fuck do you get the Bajorans being zionists?

The Federation was a post-scarcity society with a representative, democratic government.
Anything beyond that, including an identification as Socialist seems to be rather shaky ground to me.
Many different ideologies are perfectly capable of existing in the sort of post-scarcity state that the Federation had achieved.

No.
I would describe the man as an opportunistic dreamer.
Meaning that he certainly wanted a far better future for humanity; However it was a future that was remote to him and one that perhaps he did not even want to see in his lifetime.
I mean, just look at what he did regarding the 'lyrics' for the original Star Trek theme.

I love that in the end, both Quark and Eddington were right.
The Federation is basically a friendly, diplomatic version of the Borg; With even the Ferengi being on the path towards eventual assimilation into the Federation by the end of DS9.
I cannot think of another show that was so consistently able to show the main charterers being on the wrong/not entirely correct side of an issue; Homefront/Paradise Lost being another good example of this.

What an absolute gem of a show.

yeah but now its about vulcan penis and dutch angles.

Bajorans are also Tibetan and Cardassians are the occupying chinks.
