Happy birthday Karl Marx our greatest comrade

Happy birthday Karl Marx our greatest comrade
"The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can
be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. Let the ruling classes
tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They
have a world to win.
Working Men of All Countries, Unite!"

Ismail of /marx/ just scanned biography of Marx published in English in East Germany: archive.org/details/MarxBiographyGDR

yeah, I'm not gonna believe that.

Not to mention Japan actually has a fairly large communist party.

I'm not an expert but I get the feeling that the nuance between "socialism" and "communism" is different in Japan. Western normies are more likely to consider socialism to be shit like public libraries and other examples of when the government does stuff, and communism to be tanks and death camps, but it's kinda flipped in Japan. I was reading my students' history textbooks and the word socialism is used almost exclusively when referring to North Korea, the Soviet Union, etc. The word for communism never appears. When people speak of socialism, it's almost in a hushed tones. Kim Jong Un rather than fucking roses comes to mind. It's a more hardcore word than in the West.

I could be misinformed though. That's only my limited experience.

Japan also remains a remarkably reactionary country in every sense of the word. The presence of a nominally "communist" party does little to discount that.

Happy Bday, I may not consider myself a marxist, but the legacy this man brought is astoundingly important and will never be killed off.

Happy birthday comrade.

that's one cool fucking statue. Where is it, Trier?

Yup, Trier, Marx's birthplace. The Green Party was against it because muh human right abuse in China. The FDP (pro-market crazies) was against it, the AfD too. Surprisingly it was the SPD who supported the statue. It's a gift from China.

I reckon Die Linke were the loudest major supporters
also
Xi is looking like an actually cool guy more and more every day. Based.

Any Belfast comrades here, I'm going to the sunflower bar to commentate the coolest Karl. Buy yous a rum to toast the fucker if anyone in the vicinity.

So much for the free marketplace of ideas

Same in South Korea, socialism means literally just North Korea there yet they score pretty high.

Happy birthday, KM!

WSJ ===> Gulag

From what I can gather, yes, Japan is quite reactionary and very classcucked.

The statue is fucking awesome and the unveiling in itself is so A E S T H E T I C.

Greens ===> Gulag
FDP ===> Gulag
AfD ===> Gulag
SPD? Are they starting to make amend after all their shit - voting for WWI, killing Rosa, Bad Godesberg, Agenda 2010???

SKoreans seem to be less autistic and, at least on a personal level, they express their feelings more openly than Japs. Even though their society too is marked by widespread reactionarism, I think the shit that went on during the Korean War and the continued American support for military juntas in the decades after have created a wide yet maybe subterranean wokeness, if you get what I mean. Japan, on the other hand, even if it got nuked twice and firebombed to ashes, seems to accept American shit as some kind of atonement for the crimes of their empire.

...

Japan's xenophobia and obsession with hierarchy are why they have such a big communist party. It's fairly spooked, but has done well to challenge the neoliberal hegemony in East Asian politics.

We have one like it in Manchester for Engels too. It was pilfered from a Ukranian rubbish tip.

SPD is to be placed under the watchful eye of Stasi, in case they try anything again.

Footage of communists marching, blocking right-wingers from protesting in front of the statue, and waving Lenin flags when the statue is revealed.

A lot of Chinese tourists boppin around these days, too. Trier's main industries are tourism and wine. Put 2 and 2 together.

Base shapes superstructure ;)
