Their raison d'être is the protection of Lebanon (especially the Shia-majority South Lebanon where they have the most support) from Israeli aggression. Ideologically, they're anti-imperialists, anti-zionists, and Shia Islamists. They aren't communists - they're closer to social democrats - but they have good relations with the Lebanese Communist Party, as well as with other communist groups like the PFLP.
They're neither naz nor bol.

According to this guy Hezbollah has genuinely adopted parts of a Marxist analysis as their party line, it makes sense when you listen to Hassan Nasrallah, his political/international analysis is more in-line with Marxism-Leninism than most people who call themselves "socialists."
