I’ve noticed myself becoming extremely defensive of Socialist experiments regardless of policies. Particularly with anarchist and ML societies.
While Rosa is my cup of tea, whenever nonsocialists insult the USSR or CNT-FAI, I can’t stop but defend them. Personally I see that defense of these socialists experiments should be made, even if you hate them personally, when nonsocialists talk about them in a disrespectful manner, thoughts?

It's amazing how quickly liberals and rightards fold when they play the "socialism was never tried amirite xD" card and you immediately respond with "actually, it has been tried in the USSR and has worked very well, despite many flaws". They either drop the topic immediately or devolve into autistic screeching about gorillions. It's great and everyone should do it even if you have certain disagreements with Soviet policies.

I should also further my reasoning. The rightest approach to anti-socialism is typically the USSR, but falangists I notice hammer hard against the CNT-FAI MORE than they do the USSR (Mexican Nationalists do the same but for the Zapatistas). So I find it best to prepare yourself for anti-Communist slander, even if it’s anti-anarchist.

Criticism against socialist experiments should primarily be made within the movement. Anything else is shooting yourself in the foot. To liberals the socialist movement except the obvious red-headed step-children like Gonzalo and Pol Pot should be defended and the very real successes should be proclaimed. Because liberals don't give a shit about nuance, so it's better to take a stand.
Honestly the best criticism you can make against any attempts at socialism to a liberal is to show the fact that most pro-market reforms in the east-block where pretty terrible and caused a lot of the problems in the latter years.
