Paid mods are "communism

So, are we going to do straighten the stupid porkie slave, or what?

Fuck i am stupid >>>/v/14883847 >>>/v/14883883

is there even a point to debate people like that?

didnt bother playing any bethesda games after oblivion, seen the gameplay vids and they look boring, bunch of rehashes

FO3 is not a bad game, but no masterpiece. FO4 is shit. Skyrim is the epitome of shitty but popular game design.

FNV is fantastic

no real arguments here about intelectual propriety and work, just some feelz>realz deduction

also fuck bethesda for destroying Fallout

If anything, Nexus is closer to communism than Beth's shitty paid mods. Better quality too.

Friend of mine pointed out that this isn't the actual case. Free mods are basically the intern for experience model; Bethesda's ownership of the mop through licensing and copyright denies them compensation for their labor, while at the same time Bethesda directly benefits by them making/fixing content for their game. Clearly Bethesda's paid mod model is also capitalism, but at least then the workers are compensated in part.

Daily reminder you should pirate games that are not produced by studios who are "creators first and capitalists second".

Why didn't they listen, Zig Forums?

any studios fit the bill though?

there are cases where modding teams became fully fledged dev teams. Like the group behind Long War for Xcom. Firaxis (owners of the Xcom series) not only helped them directly but also paid them to develop "professional" mods for Xcom 2 and now they are developing their own turn based tactics game, which will technically be in competition with Xcom itself.

Well yeah, thats the best scenario for modders, most of valve games come outta these guys

One thing to bear in mind is that the individual members of most studios do care about their work, but are often puppeted and "corrupted" by the capital of distributing companies. However, there are some exceptions as of late, namely SEGA, Paradox, and Ubisoft. They have taken a lot of the yoke off of developers, if just due to years of pr disasters and public discontent. It turns out that consumers are more likely to buy your product if the creators are allowed to fucking cooperate with them.

However, developers which exist outside the distributor model are preferable, such as Obsidian, Taleworlds, and CD Red. The latter especially, as they have aspects of capitalist cooperatives. (Average employees directly receive a percentage of the companies' profit, for instance). The company itself grew out of the video game culture of the Eastern Bloc, and as such has always contained market socialist aspects.

Also this.

Yeah i understand em, still tempted to buy off all of paradox's dlc though when they put it up for a 90% or somethin, gettin real tired of playing with shitty no dlc eu4

Modders should be paid for their labour to create the mods, ergo paid mods == socialism.

sure, maybe

Just pirate EU4's dlc. Common Sense justifies it.

Wrong, but yes. Bethesda's paid mod system is them removing the value gain from the consumer in favor of both their own gain and the modder's gain. It's clear that revolutionary socialism is the answer in this dilemma.

Yeah, but the reason is that i want to play with my overseas buds, and i cant play eu4 online with pirated content

Don't know what to say then, but I believe you can have them disable mods on their end and then play with them?

either ways, someone's gotta cough up

Because videogames rot your brain.
