Ontario Provincial Election 2018

A-are SocDems allowed? They might win! It's the biggest province in Canada. It will also make Zig Forums salty if they do.
Red are Liberals
Blue are Conservatives
Orange are SocDems

NDP won't win. They are only popular in poor communities or with hippies because they believe in handouts and stealing money from everyone that actually works for a living. So they will have a large majority in downtown toronto, but that only equates to a handful of seats. The rest of the province thinks they are shit.

can we talk about how progressive conservative is the most oxymoronic name in history

Reposting my expert election analysis:

As of now most of the Ont. NDP boost is mirroring the Corbyn boost with a large influx of voters concentrated in urban areas with relatively little support gathered in suburban or rural areas that are needed for a parliamentary majority. It's more likely that a lot of PCO candidates in the 905 and Ottawa suburbs will squeak through to victory with 35-40% due to liberal-left vote splitting among the NDP, Libs and Greens. Some libs are hoping for a Ford majority in the hopes that he'll be so awful that they can win back power in four years

As much as I want a third socdem government in power here things aren't looking that great. vote anyway and pray that I'm wrong. otherwise be prepared to organize and obstruct everything the PCs try to do for four years

yeah I'm sure speculating on real estate with cheap government-backed loans is hard work.

Hope conservatives win. The only hope for socialism in Canada is accerlationism. Canadians are to comfy in there social democracy o demand socialism.

And this is how leftist lose elections. You can’t win with just Urban support.

A Canada with major neoliberal reforms there population would be impoverished enough so class consciousness could arise. There’s a reason all communist groups in Canada are idpol/third wordlists, that don’t engage in class. There’s no class consciousness because prols in Canada are very comphy.

The Liberals surrendered already and their leader said that they can't win, and they're facing a possible reduction to 2 seats.

For accelerationism to work you need a cadre of socialists available to take advantage of the ensuing uproar and direct the anger towards not just voting out PCs but voting in a socdem government brave enough to focus all its attention of material issues instead of getting bogged down in idpol symbol politics. Remember there's literally a party in Ontario that exists just because it's mad about the new sex-ed curriculum

Wynne also said "vote Liberal anyway we need enough Liberals in Queen's Park to force a minority govt. LMAO"

Ontario politics are fucking weird. There's a massive constituency of die-hard radical centrists who think that the NDP are no different from Mike Harris slash-and-burn conservatism

I thought they were a myth.

You're on probation. Bear in mind that your record will be severely scrutinized by the people's tribunals, "comrade."

what happened next

Conservative sweep. It's like what I predicted in >>2546671: PCs held rural farm country and mopped up in the suburbs where the centrist/liberal vote split among the three other parties. NDP support was concentrated almost entirely in urban ridings and the north. Liberals got curb stomped, they only held francophone ottawa and a handful of other seats. Greens elected their leader, for what that's worth.

Will the left get its shit together or will idpol liberals blame each other for the loss and hack away each other for four years while ontario gets turned into a shittier Blade Runner? Stay tuned friends
CAUSE WE'RE ALL ACCELERATIONISTS NOW BABY

Oh god no. It's a way of life for a lot of people in the professional classes in ontario. There's rows and rows of million dollar homes in the old parts of Toronto and Ottawa with meticulous compost/recycling (I would know, given that I sometimes stole recycling from them while I lived in ontario) owned by doctors and natsec programmers

get the pierre in here

Have I been summoned?

I thought you were still living in Montreal?

I have family in Gatineau and Montreal but I grew up in southern Ontario.

enlighten us about the election

A shame. I enjoy your posting style (notwithstanding the philosemitism nonsense) but as a godfearing Newfoundlander I am required by law to eternally hate you until Quebec rightfully returns all the electricity you stole from our imperial colonies in Labrador

Ok so basically back in 2014 the Liberals under Kathleen Wynn got a majority, from then on there was a fuck ton of scandals involving Hydro One, in 2015 they sold off 60% saying they would use the money to fund infrastructure as well as giving 2.5% to the First Nations (literally neo-liberalism with a progressive face). From then on we were drastically overcharged on our hydro bills and constant scandals involving corruption between the Liberals and Hydro One frequented the news.

Now forward to 2018 the elections are up and everyone fucking hates Kathleen Wynn, as per usual many planned on voting conservative (and well yeah that happened) and then Doug Ford won the Conservative leadership. Now Doug Ford is the brother of the infamous ex-mayor of Toronto Rob Ford (may you rest in piss) who had a massive scandal involving smoking crack. The Ford family also has a history of some sketchy drug shit (see: theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/globe-investigation-the-ford-familys-history-with-drug-dealing/article12153014/). Now many (even conservatives) don't like Doug Ford, as he's a bible thumper, he likes Trump, he's running on a hard-line privatization stance, oh and he looks like a short bus nigga. And the previous Conservative Ontario leader ran on a platform of "yeah I'll cut like 100k public sector jobs to create 500000000 gorrilian private sector jobs" which was false, and it was also going to be like shitty part-time jobs, thank god he lost.

Now since the Liberals weren't even a contender, it was the prime chance for the NDP (Social Democrats) to score a victory, since the bad reputation from the Bob Ray government had largely faded. However sadly the NDP Ontario leader was a un-charismatic Hillary Clinton like figure (but without the popularity) and the candidates were like a bunch of old ladies. And as we see against a Trump like populist figure they blew it. I will give them credit though, they did tone down the IdPol that is highly prevalent in the federal NDP, but they just didn't have the gravitas that a Jeremy Corbyn or Bernie Sanders would have.

Oh and the federal NDP leader is a Sikh who attended a Sikh separatist party that praises a terrorist.

Bro you live on a giant rock, come fite me.

As an aside, the pathetic excuse (anglo) canada has for an aut-right is already admitting that Dougie is going to wholly cuck out Trump style. Took a while but we finally beat some self-awareness into them

Didn't stop the Sun/NaPo from digging up that corpse and parading it around

I thought you were all about natlib movements? :^)

living on a poor, near-inhospitable rock in the north atlantic is trad

They're never gonna let that go, and it didn't help that the NDP made a 1.4 billion dollar mistake on their budget.

Yeah I support NatLib movements that are progressive and advance the class struggle. Not a big fan of aristocratic religious extremist groups though.

Yeah remember learning about Newfie history, it took a while for capitalism to infest that rock.

We also had a socdem Great Leap Forward, so I guess it all evens out.

What is this referencing?

As long as the Liberals got destroyed, it was a good day.

Newfoundland and Labrador's first premier Joseph Smallwood was elected to lead a province with an economy based mostly on agriculture, logging and especially fishing. Like Mao he believed that he could accelerate the industrialization of his province. But his tactic in the 1950s was to just hire a former nazi to give massive government grants and loans to businesses that built random factories all across the island. Pretty much all of them failed in a few years

The Liberals are no longer a party in Ontario.
