Clive Palmer returns to Australian Politics / /leftyAusPol/

Apathy seems about Right to me
People i talk to are extremely unhappy of the way things are going but seem to adopt a "Ahh Shucks guess it cant be changed attitude" towards our situation
That and of course the Brainwashing kicking in and their minds shutting down the second they hear the Word Socialism / Communism drop from the belt

Best method ive found to talking to people about our situation and bringing them to a more left wing Mindset is to get them to associate Socialism with a Gough Whitlam / 70s SocDem Policy and work my way left from there

Do you think an anti-Chinese Red Scare has something to do with it as well (regardless of what China might be)? 'Cause I've been seeing a lot of anti-China stuff in the news lately, but I'm not sure whether or not they make it an ideological thing or just a national interest thing?

Got to love old Whitters.

Yes
The news always makes sure to Call it "Communist China" to Remind people of the fact they (call themselves) Are """"Socialist""""

I would not be surprised one bit if when / if a SocDem / DemSoc runs a party for office they will be called "CHINESE AGENT!!!111!!!!"

I remember seeing Hillary Clinton saying something like "Oh, you got to watch out for the chinks, they're up to something, they're going to hack your election" while she was in Aus.

Well see? Youve got evidence to prove my point right there
This Anti-China shit all over the news lately is to prepare for what ive just talked about + Making sure we align to Burger GeoPol Interests

I hate how we're pretty much a British/American naval base in Asia-Pacific that gets traded off between the two. I reckon a Socialist movement in Aus ought to cloak itself in Pacifist language, such as kicking out the American soldiers. Do you reckon Aussies'd go for that?

Anti war sentiment always works better with clear goals and cloaked in nationalism: "We must not send the sons and daughters of [country] for the interests of the rich in America!".

Do Australian nationalists pretend to be peaceful? 'Cause I saw a story on SBS talking about how some soldiers in Afghanistan flew a Swastika flag, which to me says that they want war.

not the guy you responded to (I'm the burger) but I'd gather most normal people there (not the hardcore fascist types) could still be persuaded by vaguely nationalist rhetoric, if it's anything like the states
although that doesn't really mean anything will change

I reckon Left-wing Nationalism in Aus could theoretically work. If you highlighted the Class Struggle throughout our history such as the Eureka Stockade, Ned Kelly fighting the rich Poms and harkened to the old bush poetry while throwing in some Titoism and Maoism (Cultural Revolution type stuff).
