Garbage planet

Just a reminder that even the deepest parts of the ocean are filled with garbage now.

You can't even escape the waste created by capitalism at the bottom of the sea.

WALL-E IS A ACTUALLY A DOCUMENTARY

Grow up, pussy.

Why don't you develop technology to help mitigate the problem so you can channel your bitching towards solving the problem instead of polluting the internet with your fucking whining?

Back to Zig Forums

Just a reminder 2/3 of that garbage is dumped into the ocean by "its real communism when it suits my argument" countries.

We've developed something. It's called socialism and communism, dumbass.

retard detected.

Also, U.S. leads the world in waste.

Ecology is dumb because we can use science to bioengineer humans to live without a biosphere.

Reported for pretending to be Rafiq.

Hi Rafiq

"Technology" doesn't mean "magic general purpose robots". Advanced solutions to difficult problems can take seemingly benign forms. Modern household detergent would considered state-of-the-art chemistry a few hundred years ago, for example, and is a common choice for dealing with oil disasters.

The technology already exists, and there is a workforce ready to dedicate their lives to it, both skilled and unskilled. But the net unprofitability of such an endeavor means it would almost never happen under capitalism. We'd already have ships out, filtering the great Pacific garbage patch today if that were the case.

Are you suggesting someone in invent something that makes it profitable to collect garbage– how? By turning it into gold? Because that's alchemy my guy, and also the line of thinking a capitalist technophile would have. (though it is theoretically possible lmao– it would probably take up more polluting energy than it's worth)

You can extract precious metals like gold from thrown away electronics though. And you should because it extracting said precious metal is hard as fuck.

Why would you do that when you can just have slaves in Africa do it for you? If there was money in it, they would have already done it.

Not saying it is super profitable though. Only it should be done for resource management/environment purposes

So, what do you guys do to help the environment? Not asking to be smarmy as I'm genuinely interested. I try to reduce my usage of stuff as much as possible and recycle what I cannot. I know it doesn't really fall on the average person but it does help to practise what one preaches, I suppose.

I've also gone mostly vegetarian aside from fish, which I've really cut down on as well. So, pescatarian. It does help.

Push for socialism

OK so you guys shitting on technology cleaning shit up… What do you expect to happen when we stop polluting? For all that garbage to just vanish out of respect for our responsible choices?

Dunnage. look at what cruise ships are allowed to dump at sea and why. that aluminum can will be disolved by salt water in a few years , Fukushima on the other hand …. not so much.

at what point does capitalism cease to be antagonistic and drive the world to shit by your magic wand waving that is religious tech worship?
it's not okay to be retarded
here's a fun game for you to play: take a plastic bag and take a good look inside of it, legend says that you can find another world if you really put your head into it

see:

this is like the meme where we consider the consumer responsible for recycling. the only answer is the abolition of the profit motive because of

sadly i don't think it's going to begin to end until we've hit some sort of wall; loss of species, climate change - something like that

Chinks fucking up the planet.
