Where can I read credible information about modern China?
Check out Stalins Moustache a blog from an Australian Communist that went to China and now lives there (I think).
Or just read the Deng Xiaoping and Xi Jinping works and make up your mind about their thoughts on how to develop China to an advanced socialist country

Dengist Leninhat, ahev you read Losurdo (the famous Marxist that sadly died a few days ago) on China?
His analysis are really interesting and really influential among Communist parties in Europe ,lots of the have now a friend relation with the CPC after been influence by Losurdo (for example in the case of the PCE or PCP)

Lol no. Those are genuine libfags.
Guy commuted and walked hours trough a giant city to make a video whining about muh dogs muh everyone is eating dogs and thats a bad thing and talking out of his ass only to point at a single shabby restaurant he found serving dog meat as "proof" in some poor corner of the city
I'll look into it! Thank you (I don't consider myself a Dengist since "Dengism" doesn't really exist. Deng Xiaoping theory exist. "Dengism" is just a term to slander Socialists who defend the PRC)
If OP wants to know if they should support modern China the best way would be to look into the Theory that led to it's modern state and wich direction it wants to go in the future, wouldn't it?
no wonder you're an anarkiddie.
Your comments makes a good point, but you are an honest idiot if you think that bureaucrats are good source for that It's same as saying
'read trump, and don't complain about capitalism'
I am not-sectarian, I call myself that way for personal reasons.
Read Chinese state media:
globaltimes.cn
xinhuanet.com
It gives you an idea of what their party line is, what their diplomatic line is, what kind of developments are occurring, etc. However, the English version may be different from the Chinese version (to make it more Westerner-friendly, like TeleSur English), does anyone know if it is different?
In particular, the Opinion sections and Editorials on Global Times can often be really good, and gives a realistic Geopolitical analysis:
globaltimes.cn
globaltimes.cn
globaltimes.cn
etc
I'm (not him) halfway through Xi's book and it's extremely light on theory. It's mostly just a bunch of speeches explaining what needs to be done with very little theoretical justification. I think the actual theoretical debates in China aren't really translated that much.
