From what I'm seeing the schools are flat out giving up on 80% of students and only care about the ones that will be put on the college-bound track. The rest are basically left to sink or swim on their own, and maybe get into a trade school / scheme their way into some sort of skilled labor. They can go into the military too I guess, but mobilizing massive number of soldiers isn't in the imperial strategy guide these days, it's really about highly trained specialists, technology, and policing rather than 20th century tactics. That's why the change, really; they don't need the proles as soldiers so much any more, and don't really need the labor of proles that much any more (they still can't get away from labor as completely as they like, but they know they're going to get enough labor to fill their requirements and keep the populace tearing each other apart with permanent 20-30% unemployment).

Can someone explain why one could view America as the best country in the world after reading this story? Like I know this is just one person's live in this country but this reads out of something from a 3rd world.
It's a fact parents often hire kidnappers, outright kidnappers provided by these businesses, to ensure their kids don't try to avoid the program, and its known that far too many of these programs are misery factories. The dude is using melodramatic language and metaphors but what he's describing is legitimate in substance. Kids do die in those wilderness programs from being subject to harsh weather they shouldn't be camping and hiking and excessive hard labor often in those same conditions. There are suicides caused by hazing, and religious brainwashing, and isolation from the outside designed to pacify the "delinquent" kids. His claim that a Russian kid died at Sagewalk is true, the article even mentions how the kid was blindfolded and dragged to the program.
His conspiracy claims are nonsense even in the context of his posts alone. He tries to connect some cheesy nature ritual and nicknames as something satanic or sincerely religious, and tries to connect it to typical conspiracy theories about how famous person X was an occultist, or how this ritualistic behavior that every group has is something pagan or satanic. The founder of AA for example, was just an LSD-style spiritualist like you find everywhere on hallucinogenic forums. All that is probably just him being exposed to conspiracy theories and using them to try and explain the abusive conditions he was subject too and why he was subject to them. He also tries to connect it to funding from investment companies, conservative groups and politicians, and law enforcement to prove his point, as if there aren't obvious transparent reasons why these institutions work with and invest in troubled teen programs.

To me, not only is this stuff barbaric, but it's fundamentally a great example of why teenagers should have more legal autonomy (along with gay camps and shit like that). Legally, you can be like 5 months from your 18th and your parents have the right to hire some dudes to come in your room at night, abduct you, and take you to go to some restricted "camp" in the woods run by sadists and/or puritans. They don't need a court order or any specific reason, they just have to not like what you're doing. And then 5 months later you'd have to be released, like this was somehow reasonable up until the very day you turned 18.
