'50s Father Calls His Son A Communist

First time I hear about something like that show. But its easy to produce, easily memeable, good if you have some dudes with decent comedic situational timing. It could work. How would you go about doing something like that though?

I've heard some rather disturbing reports about you, son. Such as the people you're friends with are nothing but capitalists!

This, literally everything the son says is a historical fact, and the dad is just like "b-b-but muh freedom!" while son actually questions the dominant narrative, and argues that even American freedom is a lie.

To people who don't know better, if you frame someone stating facts as a loon they will respond IRL to people stating those facts as if they're a loon, because they didn't bother to verify whether the information is correct and simply trusted the story they were presented with. That's the basic way that we build our impression of the world and why urban legends are a thing. You have to either be a bit unusual to begin with or enact extra effort to be a skeptical person who doesn't just accept what you're told by people who purport to be honest and working in your interests.

I remember there was once a plan to do an MST3K commentary on Bitter Harvest, aka the kulak movie. I don't know the logistics of how we'd do it but the meme potential is too great to ignore, we have to make it happen. Have a "Stalin Did Nothing Wrong" ☭TANKIE☭, a ⛏️rotskyist, and an Anarchist get on stream and shoot the shit at Red Scare propaganda and Stalin-worshipping Soviet propaganda.

How would you organize that though? Just stream a movie and put people with speech bubbles on the side or on the bottom? Live?

Live would be best. At least the commentators would all have to be watching the movie and giving instant reactions for it to be good. You could have a little MST3K overlay over the film if you want but I think just three personalities with microphones would be all you'd need.

Anyone else believe this unironically? I know that conversion is more effective at getting large numbers of people but since children usually inherit their political beliefs from their parents, we do need to counter the legions of right-wing/liberal normies.

Yeah, Zizek talked about it in some interview. He said his son (who's like a kid still) came back from school and went on a huge rant about how communism can't work because of human nature and all the typical bullshit.

Zizek said he's an authoritarian (rather than neoliberal totalitarian) father so I wouldn't be surprised if he did that.

Has zizek tried making his kid work a labour intensive waaaay-below minimum wage warehouse/retail job for 40+ hours a week at age 18?
It sure helped me that after working 40 hours of emotionally and physically draining work, I barely made any money, despite the manager bragging to us how much money they made during the sale for which we had to give up our lunchbreak, and then "rewarding" us with a tiny piece of a 4 euro pie.

Oh right, another thing that helps is having a lot of sympathetic age 40+ co-workers doing the same job, with a barely higher wage, but who also have to additionally pay rent and living expenses from their measly wage.
