Building your own AR-15 is a lot cheaper than buying one plus you get to skip a background check if you buy the lower from a private vendor Some people say these ARs are entry-level but honestly why pay so much more to get a gun that basically does the same thing. Here's a good tip: More often than not an automatic rifle beats a bolt-action at ranges below 300 meters. This is mostly thanks to its ability to spew out a superior volume of fire at short warning.
Beyond 300 meters this advantage starts to fall off, as greater care, and therefore a longer aiming time, needs to be taken in order to reliably hit a human-sized target. Therefore a somewhat skilled and mobile rifleman can outmatch his automatic counterpart, assuming he doesn't root himself to one spot after firing more than one or two aimed shots.
This does not mean that an automatic weapon is useless beyond 300 meters nor that a bolt-action is useless below, quite the opposite. What it implies is merely that the auto can't effectively out-spam the bolt-action in the same way as on shorter ranges. This allows our bolt-actioneer some breathing space and some reliable and effective tactics to counter his more quick-drawish counterpart.

My personal favorite people at gun shows are the ammo merchants. I call them bullet farmers like Mad Max. The ones I've talked to had zero pretension and were overall really nice. Real ordinary working class people.
The worst people at gun shows are the ones selling overpriced AR builds to paranoid suburban MAGA people. I saw one who had a t-shirt with a map of the U.S. shaded on how different counties voted, and the liberal areas were labeled "dumbfuckistan." The guns he was selling were absolute shit, too.

Yes, bolt-actions are crap. I never suggested that they were better than automatics. I literally underlined the inferiority of bolt actions rifles in the last sentence of my post to ward off mouth-breathers like you. You see, the entire point of my post, which you missed completely, was to simply address that if a bolt-action pile of shit is all you happen to have at hand, there are certain conditions under which you'll not end up fucked up outright and that you might have slightly better odds utilizing tactics which take these conditions into account.

Vepr Grendel seems cool because I've heard good things about the Grendel round overall and that they're comparable to the .308. Also the rifle sells for $800-900
Hk770 I like the gun but it's kind of expsensive. Seems people are asking in the range for $1000 to $2000 for it(although I sometimes see them cheaper than the SL-7 .308.) Even worse the clips are kind of expsensive at around $200 to $300 for the magazines. Pluses are it's a semi-auto HK and it's chambered in .308 and I like the non-military look to it(will bother people less if they see it.) But maybe it's be better to just get a G3 clone from PTR or CETME. (cheaper gun, cheaper mags, and drum mags available.)

There may be a reason why the armed forces hasn't gave up on Bolt actions for their sniper units. If your claim is true then all the sniper units on the planet would be using semi-autos (that is normally called designated markman rifles that is given to designated marksmen in a unit) by now. Why hasn't that happen? Why are things like the l118 and it's derivatives are still being made if it is so useless like you claim? Are you sure you're not just projecting?

Fuck even if you don't like ARs there's no reason not to own one and learn how to shoot it, field strip it and deal with common stoppages. The military industrial complex means that you can get these things super cheap and over the years a lot of the kinks have been worked out. Even cheap ARs like mine run reliably up until around 10000 rounds.

Me too. Makarovs are cool as fuck, so is milsurp, but those are wall hangers and range toys, they are not ideal for self defense or prepping. If it's all you got then it's what you use, but if you are in America chances are there are way better options.

Tokarevs are great too. They're cheap as fuck and my M57 is my go to home defense weapon. I'll be damned what anyone else says I'm familiar with the gun and every time I took it to the range I had no problems. Easy to take apart and clean too. Great military surplus handgun and you can find them for great value. Makarovs from what I've heard are a more "civilized" version of the Tokarev but both are great and reliable shooters. Those guns are built to shoot one handed it feels. Just wish that ammo was cheaper and more common. That 7.62x25 man, quite a zippy little round

We can look at what the FBI have done before to see what they might do in the future, and that has been setting up sectarian wrecker tendencies (such as the Ad Hoc Committee for a Marxist-Leninist Party) along with generally encouraging illegal activity so they can make arrests.
SRA is, to my knowledge, neither encouraging sectarianism nor any illegal activity (owning and firing guns on a range is perfectly legal in the US). It's possible that there might be spies in the SRA, but if what people are afraid of is that the FBI is continuing a COINTELPRO style surveillance program, they literally have spies everywhere, even in pacifist orgs that eschew firearms.
Though, I think we're giving ourselves a bit too much credit, I think most evidence points to the FBI having basically ceased to give a shit about American lefty orgs since the fall of the USSR and having picked up interest in us again only just recently. But their focus is still almost entirely on Islamists, minorities and foreign agents.

In what kind of environment you are realistically going to get any usage out of bolt-action since majority of modern combat along the associated training is usually less than 300 meters due to the nature of how combat has evolved either to be at extreme ranges thanks to artillery and air-support or at very close proximity in urban or forested regions. Sure as recon sharpshooter you are going to get utility out of blot action but that is about it.
