I'm not convinced that "Fashwave" is relevant now or was relevant when it was more relevant than it is today. Like, how long ago was Simpsonswave?
Fashwave parodies/RW cringe thread
Simpsonswave vids are still far more relevant than fashwave ever was
Can someone explain the whole fashwave thing to me? Is it ironic or not, or does it depend on the artist? Or does fashwave exist on that doublethink/bad faith sort of level which is so common among Zig Forums-cultists and their ilk, in which the cultist - whether out of psychological deficiencies or out of an attempt to manipulate others - varyingly treats his own proposed ideas either as serious political ideology or as humor depending on who he is talking to and how he feels at the given moment? Is fashwave just an attempt to wrap fascism in a sugar pill? Do the creators of fashwave realize that in many or most fascist regimes, their music would be considered degenerate and also they wouldn't be allowed to freely discuss politics on whatever remained of the Internet?
It's hard for me to imagine anyone non-ironically thinking "Hey, you know this cyberpunk-tinged artform somewhat inspired by wholesome memories of being a child in the 80s/90s? Let's fuse it with… fascism!"
Some fashwave is fun to listen to, and it's amusing to hear old Nazi sound clips mixed into the synth beats. I just can't imagine the mindset of someone who would make that kind of music and also actually support fascist politics.
Labourwave is better.
The alt right is run by gen-xers who have a nostalgia for the 80s, and 4chan loves Drive and Ryan Gosling. TADA! You can listen to it while working out!
Vaporwave is inherently leftist
