BO started mass banning users for voicing support for the Kurds during the Syrian civil war because they are tolerating American troop presence. At that time, threads on the conflict were among the main drivers of traffic because they provided great real-time coverage, even some comrades that were actively involved stopped by. The board was split, post counts dropped and posting in any Syria thread(if there's one) still is a game of Russian roulette until this day.

Another contentious issue that led to a lot of bans were the wave of protests in Iran. It got to the point that any criticism of Iran (including pointing out that their government is rabidly anticommunist and killed them by the thousands in the 80s) was labelled as CIA propaganda and considered bannable.

I've honestly been thinking that we should get rid of the /leftytrash/ thread and be more lenient towards shitposting. We're harming ourselves by excluding these elements. Allowing them is the best way to ensure traffic on our board, and thereby generate quality debate as well.

I agree. The autists in /leftytrash/ won't be much help. It's the opening up of discussion that would be. Start allowing threads on the YouTube left again. That'll attract more people to our board, and will give intelligent posters most material to work with.

for instance the "im coming for that toothbrush whitey" meme originated here and is now widespread. I came about because we were all arguing with this libertardian who insisted communism was about us all sharing toothbrushes.

This is another thing the mods have done, banned all the reactionaries, there was a point where there was daily threads saying reactionaries had come over to our side after arguing with us here and browsing, it also trained posters to hone their anti reactionary arguments.

Now those posters are simply banned and none of this happens. On top of that, there is very little real theory disscussion, in every aspect, discussion of theory, history, memes and bants and general education, this place has become stale, and it all came about because of the one big US military base in Syria split.

Zig Forums has always been a borderland between leftist politics and image board culture, the latter of which has now become strongly reactionary. If there is any value to our existence, it is to give the left some grasp on the culture of the alt-right. Without interacting with these reactionaries we cannot fulfill this purpose.
Beyond this there is also the hope that we might teach them something.

These missions aren't exactly "raids." Raids occur when one community storms another with the intention of disrupting it. We do not want to disrupt anything, only enrich the local population with our presence. Our approach should be civil and well-contained. If this disrupts a community it is their own doing.

Likely. This is part of the purpose of the program. Generate new traffic on our board. Reactionaries might not make very good posters, but their posts form a useful baseline of conversation. There's no better way of refining your theoretical understanding of socialism than repeatedly explaining it to a disingenuous critic.
