I like him, he has affirmed he’ll stick to Cuba’s traditional foreign policy line along with vowing that there will be no restoration of capitalism, so that’s good to hear at the very least. With the Maduro situation he’s been strongly on his side and has kept up ties with Kim. I’m always a bit suspicious of slight liberalization that began before he came to office but if it’s in response to the embargo and imperialist pressure, I can understand it to some extent. As long as they don’t turn China-tier I’m happy.

Cockshott has done talks in vietnam and China i believe. Neither are interested in leaving a market economy and in pretty sure China even threatened to ban him from the country. He worked with maduro to translate TaNS into Spanish. Obviously Venezuela isnt in any position to pursue cockshotts ideas at the moment but he has spoke on steps to take in the right direction for them so maybe once they stabalise that could be a thing. Bolivia may be a possibility as well, but I doubt it at this point. I think the strongest contender would be Cuba. It would take a lot of work and they would have to plan it out over 20 years or so but it would probably be the most exciting thing for socialism in a long time. They would have to start integrating payment cards all over the country, organizing a system of upc's for everytging in the economy, further developing their computing industry etc. As some first steps they could tie their currency to labor values as start printing labor values on notes alongside the actual amount of currency, eventually move to only labor values and make them only available on card, make them non transferable, mandate pay at 1 labor token to 1 hour work and start rolling out the planned economy. It would be a huge undertaking but also a gigantic step forward and example for all other socialist states.
