If you are a university student in the West, chances are that your campus is intensely militarized. Most of the research budgets come from the military industrial complex and intelligence agencies. Your professors have all worked and are working on missile systems, surveillance, counterintelligence, propaganda, or something similar. Half the fucking companies at the career shows are weapons manufacturers, intel agencies, the military, oil companies, and banks. There are military recruiters all over campus every day, and they have a recruiting office on campus. There are probably buildings and monuments on campus paid for by all these organizations with their names on them. All your peers and classmates are tripping over each other to get an internship or a junior position at these places. ROTC freaks march all over the place, attend class in uniform, and get special accommodations from the professors. Don't point any of this out, that's creating an unsafe atmosphere for our country's heroes…

Leaf here. It’s nothing like that at my uni. I can count on one hand the number of RMC (military uni) people I’ve met, and generally you wouldn’t know they were from RMC unless they said so. They don’t wear uniforms or anything. I’ve never seen anything related to the arms industry or military on campus, pretty sure our biggest private sector funding source is mining companies since our mining engineering program is top tier. The most I’ve seen as far as recruitment goes were posters advertising the army reserves.

some gomr8s and I did a campaign raising awareness about the 1033 program, which facilitates the distribution of old US military hardware to local police departments, basically militarizing them. The program also gives weapons and hardware to university campus police forces as well. The FBI also held a recruitment seminar on our campus.
Saw some jackass the other day in full combat uniform going to class, and I saw a recruiter on campus once, but that was it. And this was at a public university. Could have been worse imo, my campus is basically dead politically because there's no social cohesion whatsoever (mix of people from different towns who don't know each other, everyone works at least 1 job, mostly commuters, etc)
