It's really amazing how a society that prides itself in being civilized and following reason and science can be so easily bamboozled by baseless propaganda. Sure, it's mostly just fash who read Solzhenitsyn now, but in the latter half of the 20th century, he was treated more or less as the authority on the internal workings of the Soviet Union. There was even this phrase that went something like "half the population are in prison and the other half are the prison guards" based on Solzhenitsyn's claim that 100 million people were in gulag, which would have been over half the population of the Soviet Union. Literally just one dipshit's testimony without a shred of evidence and people believed it, going to far as to assert that the USSR was some massive prison state instead of entertaining the idea that maybe Solzhenitsyn was bullshitting.

Stage two is anger directed not towards Capitalism, but towards other scapegoats, like immigration, "dirty communists" or Jews. Stage Three is bargaining were someone is hopeful the government in power or politicians can fix. Stage 4 is depression were someone is mad at the world for everything while not blaming anyone. Stage 5 is when people accept Capitalism is a broken system and become a leftist in order to replace it with Socialism or any other leftist theory.
